Very new, very clean

New hotel on the Mekong River/beautiful view/good breakfast

On our first day, the staff were just as cold and unenthusiastic as the decor. There was no warm welcome, and even when we checked out and took a taxi, not a single staff member even said hello, let alone helping us with our luggage! We arrived after an overnight train and asked if there were any nearby breakfast options, but they didn't know. The first two days of our stay weren't weekends, and the breakfast was incredibly basic. For over 900 RMB a night, it's definitely not cheap in this small Northeastern town. The owner must be incredibly stingy to offer such a breakfast! The fruit was covered in insects, and the waiters were constantly chatting around. The tables looked gray and unwashed. There was a pool, but the cushions on the lounge chairs were all flipped up. We didn't deserve it? Breakfast on our last day, a Saturday, had a slightly larger selection, but it was just as terrible as always! The room stank of sewage and smelled like new decor, but many things were broken. For example, the balcony door wouldn't lock on the first day, and there was a sudden power outage on the second day, leaving two outlets that wouldn't charge for four days! Is this room worth over 900 RMB a night? On Saturday, we saw the hotel had bicycles for rent outside. So why did we have to walk all the way back and forth the previous few days? Other hotels in the 300-yuan area have cars that can take us to the bustling market, but this hotel had none of that! Overall, it was a terrible, terrible, terrible experience. I never want to come back again! I absolutely do not recommend it to anyone!
